Among the most prestigious theaters built in Rome at the end of the 17th century, the Capranica, thanks to its extraordinary acoustic virtue and the magnificence of its space, has had a glorious artistic life. For more than two centuries, up until the late 1800's, it had in fact represented a crucial point of theatrical and musical culture.
Musical events were initiated in 1679, acquiring international recognition with the presentation of a number of operas by the best Baroque composers such as Alessandro Scarlatti and many other celebrated composers of the 1700's - Vivaldi, Albinoni, Paisiello, Galuppi, Stradella, Caldara, D. Scarlatti, Leo, Porpora, Pasquini, whose works were represented with extraordinary success.
