One of the great delights of Rome is eating outdoors. We've imagined a perfect day in Rome with every dining experience open air. Let's see if we managed to find the tastiest spots in town for every time of day!

One of the great delights of Rome is eating outdoors. We've imagined a perfect day in Rome with every dining experience open air. Let's see if we managed to find the tastiest spots in town for every time of day!

Breakfast

Imagine a trip back in time to Italy's "Dolce Vita" days. This little kiosk is like a 1960s tram.

It opens early in the morning: have breakfast here, mingle with the locals, and enjoy a master cappuccino! And you'll soak up some authentic Italian atmosphere.

Lunch

For lunch, the choices are near countless among its trattorias with outdoor tables. We suggest Tonnarello on one of Trastevere's busiest streets.

They don't take reservations but the line is usually pretty short. And the wait is certainly worth it! Be sure to try: "cacio e pepe" tonnarelli pasta (cheese and pepper) or the carbonara. The pizza is also good.

Gelato

How do you satisfy your sweet tooth in the summer? With a good gelato! Naturally, there is not just one time of day for enjoying a gelato, but we think that the afternoon is the nicest.

The beauty of it is that you can eat it sitting down or strolling without wasting any valuable time! The gelateria we have chosen from Rome's many is Gelateria San Crispino, not far from our hotel.

Dinner

For dinner, we want to tell you about a rather unusual spot: Fiore, which specializes in "flexitarian" cuisine — this is a way of eating that emphasizes vegetables but does not completely forgo meat and fish, serving dishes that are healthy, delicious, and, first and foremost, Italian.

If you are a fan of the style or not, no question that the terrace is a delight.

If you're more a pizza-loving than a veg-friendly sort, make a stop at Pummarè to try an authentic Neapolitan pizza in Rome!

After dinner

After dinner, we suggest strolling along the Tiber to do some shopping, watch a show, or have something to drink.
